The story behind KJØ
THIS IS HOW KJØ CAME TO BE:
The idea for KJØ came on a dark and cold January evening when two good friends were tasting some homemade Beef Jerky. The person who served it was proud of what he had made, and the person who tasted it thought it was awfull, like the taste of an old leather bag.
They agreed that they could do much better, so they set about developing Denmark’s first local Beef Jerky. They had demands and goals! It had to be Danish high quality Beef Jerky from the finest A-grade beef! It had to be authentic and have great taste and texture.
They wanted to create a product that would trump all other imported beef jerky manufacturers in taste and quality.
After six months of intensive experimentation, the two friends cracked the code for the perfect Beef Jerky with the right texture and flavorful experience, KJØ was born.


KJØ STANDS FOR:
The two founders of KJØ come from and around Als, a half-sized and incredibly beautiful island in the southernmost part of Denmark. Down there they speak South Jutlandic and don’t call meat ‘meat’.
They call it KJØ! It was therefore obvious to call the company KJØ.
At KJØ, we work hard every day to create Danish Beef Jerky of the highest beef quality.
The A-grade beef from Himmerland that we use is exclusively raised, slaughtered and transported in Denmark.
And it is precisely the production and processing of local food that is at our heart.
